Hello, my name is Elias Tannous, creator of Spectrum the Dragon, a groundbreaking, neuro-affirming video-modeling universe designed to help Autistic Tweens, Teens, and Adults navigate the social, emotional, and sensory world around them.

Blending gentle fantasy, relatable storytelling, and real occupational therapy expertise, the series follows Spectrum the Dragon, a bright blue dragon who represents the everyday challenges.. and triumphs.. of autistic life. Alongside his loyal companions, Spectrum learns to decode human social expectations while staying true to who he is. The main purpose of Spectrums Universe is to create an inclusive online and in-real-life community and safe space for Neuro-Divergent Adults. This space is dedicated to nurturing real friendships where all adults can come to fulfill their social participation and leisure desires while learning and developing habits for a healthy lifestyle.

Spectrum the Dragon currently teaches two major skill pathways.
The first focuses on foundational interactions such as understanding boundaries, initiating connection, emotional recognition, and navigating sensory moments.
The second explores deeper, more nuanced concepts like masking, burnout, self-advocacy, interoception, friendships, and communication differences, including AAC and nonverbal support. The videos are paired with visual supports, worksheets, guided reflection prompts, and community quests to encourage repeat viewing and meaningful engagement. A new series focused on life skills, independence building, and workplace readiness is already in development. This upcoming line will emphasize executive function skills, self-regulation, confidence building, and the practical strategies autistic adults need for real-world success.

And perhaps the most powerful part? Developed by a Licensed, Registered Doctor of Occupational Therapy. Many community members, advisors, and contributors behind the project are autistic adults themselves!

Born from the Need for Something Better

Like many innovative autism tools, Spectrum the Dragon emerged from a deeply personal place. As an occupational therapist, lifelong musician, and creator of Spectrums Universe, I saw firsthand the lack of relatable, respectful tools for autistic adults. My work with neurodivergent young adults, combined with family experiences and years of creative storytelling, pushed me to build something entirely new.

Spectrum the Dragon wasn’t just designed as a character.
He was designed as a mirror, a safe, lovable guide who shows autistic individuals that they’re not alone, broken, or confusing. They simply experience the world differently.

As I worked with autistic teens and adults through programs like JCC’s Program Without Walls and my own capstone research, it became clear that nothing out there fully resonated with this population. There were kid-focused shows, clinical textbooks, and generic social skills curriculums but nothing warm, funny, visually engaging, and emotionally accurate for adults.

So out of that gap and a determination to build a better system, Spectrum the Dragon was born.

A Meaningful Success Story

What started as a small character sketch has evolved into a full social-skills cinematic universe. Spectrum now appears in animated stories, Instagram slide series, Discord quests, and upcoming video-modeling episodes. The community grows steadily, with autistic adults around the world sharing how Spectrum’s relatable challenges help them understand their own experiences in a safe, validating way.

Seeing this impact both online and in clinical settings has been profoundly rewarding. I describe watching Spectrum grow as “the most meaningful blend of my OT training, my music background, and my heart for this community.”

My wish is that teachers, therapists, caregivers, and autistic adults can use Spectrum the Dragon as a shared reference point. Instead of making social skills feel personal or critical, they can simply say:

“Remember how Spectrum handled this?”
“What would Byte the Fox do here?”
“Let’s use Spectrum’s strategy for this situation.”

These shared stories soften the learning curve, reduce defensiveness, and make difficult concepts feel friendly and empowering.

Spectrum isn’t about “fixing” autistic adults.
He’s about giving them a guide, a language, and a community where they finally feel understood.
